Blogger's Quilt Festival-Round 2

This is the second quilt I am entering in the Blogger's Quilt Festival.  I made this quilt for one of my daughters, Emily.  When I really got into quilting last year, she was the one always by my side asking for my scraps so I knew that she would be the first of my kids to get her own quilt.  So this is the quilt for her twin size bed:

Emily's Quilt

I finally finished sewing on the binding to Emily's quilt.  I don't know why it took me so long...but it did.  Apple picking is in full swing around here so we went to the apple orchard down the road from our house to take some pictures.  The pattern I used was Shortcake by Cluck Cluck Sew and the fabric is from Joel Dewberry's Modern Meadow collection.  It's a twin size quilt (64x88) just perfect for her bed:)

For backing I used dogwood bloom in berry from the same modern meadow line:

For quilting, I did wavy lines in different directions.  On the nine patch squares I quilted vertical wavy lines and for the other squares, I quilted horizontal wavy lines.  I wasn't sure at first how it would look, but I love the way it turned out.

And here's the proud new owner:

Finish it up

It's goal setting time for September:)  My motto this month is "Finish it Up!"  My goals are to finish up Emily's quilt, the one pictured above.  I'm about halfway done hand sewing on the binding.  Also, my kids helped make some quilts for kids that are in hospitals-through a company called Quilts for Kids.  You are supposed to return them in 4-6 weeks, ugh, it's been a bit longer than that....so I need to finish those up and get them in the mail.  I'm linking up here:

Emily's Quilt Top

I finished sewing up Emily's quilt top this week. I used this pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew.  I thought I was never going to finish up those 9 patch squares but I did:)  I used the modern meadow line by Joel Dewberry.  Still love that one!  I think Emily will be excited when it's finally finished because whenever I'm sewing it, she always asks if it's done yet...almost there Emily!

I asked her which fabric she wanted for the backing and binding.  So happy she picked exactly what I was thinking...great minds think alike:)

June Goal

My current WIP is Emily's quilt.  Last month I finished making up all of the squares and laid it all out to how I want it.  So this month's goal is to sew up Emily's quilt top.

Also, I am making a baby quilt for my sister-in-law who is due with baby #4 at the end of the month.  My goal is to make the quilt top.  I was able to go to the quilt store, by myself, this morning thanks to my sweet cousin, Paula!!  It was quite a treat!  My sister-in-law sent me some pictures of the baby's crib bumper.  The colors are red, yellow, green, and blue so here's what I picked up to make the quilt:

The dark blue Glimma print is going to be used for the backing and then the light blue Lucy's Crab Shack print will be used for the binding.  I think I'm going to try out this hourglass tutorial by Cluck Cluck Sew.  I'm linking up here today:

May finishes

My quilting/sewing goal for the month of May was to finish sewing the blocks for Emily's quilt.  I did it!!  Yeah!!  On Friday I started laying out all of the blocks to begin sewing the quilt top together.  Here's what it's looking like so far:

Also, remember today is the last day to cast your votes for the blogger's quilt festival at Amy's Creative Side.  My quilt is #81 under the baby quilt category:)

WIP Wednesday

It's Wednesday but not a whole lot of sewing has gone on this past week.  I did cut out all of the fabric for Emily's Shortcake quilt.

I also made a trip to the quilt store.  I picked up some fabric for my Christmas tree skirt (Moda's Blitzen line), a Half Moon Modern charm pack (for a baby quilt), and that purple fabric is to make a scripture tote for my daughter Haley.  They had everything I needed to get started except for any Kona white.  They were completely out, ugh!! So I'm waiting patiently for it to arrive from the Fat Quarter Shop.
