I finally finished up the hourglass baby quilt for my newest little nephew and mailed it out this week. You can read more about the fabrics and tutorial I used here.
For the back I used this Glimma print. I was a little nervous about quilting it since I've never quilted on my own machine before but it went pretty well. Of course there are a few mistakes handmade touches in there:) I did diagonal lines for the quilting. On the back, it kinda reminds me of a kite-the diagonal quilting lines for the kite and then the blue print looks like the kite strings.
Great finish!! Lucky baby!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish...nice fabrics in there I see some noteworthy and glimma on the front - Love it. What a great gift, I am sure mum and nephew will love it too.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish.. and it's perfect with handmade touches and all
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up. And done ahead of schedule.. you're doing better than me. :)
Awesome photo's Caroline! The binding is perfect too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet simple quilt! Love the backing fabric - you are totally right that it looks like kite tails!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! And I love the thought of "handmade touches".

Love it! I love the bright colors and the contrast with the white!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteoh wow that turned out amazing!!! sooo pretty!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the hourglass pattern, and I love the fabrics you chose for this quilt. It looks great! I love baby quilts that aren't so babyish that they are outgrown quickly.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this at Needle and Thread Thursday!

Absolutely adorable. Lucky baby. I'll have to try one of these for the next baby quilt I need to make!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is beautiful! Nothing is more boring than computer guided perfectly formed and stitched quilting pantographs or laser guided stitching. They look like a bedspread you can buy at a store.
