December MW Express Kit

It was my month for the MemoryWorks Express Kit and here are some of the projects that I came up with using only the kit contents.  Most of the goodies are from the new SN@P! line. I love how colorful this line is-perfect for scrapbooking kids!  First up is a layout of little Emily playing around in the snow:

Next up, a batch of fun cards:

This will be my last post as a member of MemoryWorks Teamworks.  I decided not to reapply for next year:(  I've found I really enjoy doing the "project life" way of scrapbooking and I have really fallen in love with quilting and my sewing machine this year:)  Here's looking forward to a new year!

WIP Wednesday

It's Wednesday again!  This week I got one of the Christmas tree blocks done for my Christmas tree skirt.  I'm following this tutorial.  I've got the pieces cut out for the other 2 trees, just need to sew them together.  I did chain piecing for the first time-sewing went so much faster, I'm going to have to use that a LOT more:)

Green fabrics are Moda's Blitzen line

No work on Emily's quilt this week but that's ok.  I'm hoping to get the tree skirt done by the 1st so I can use it this year!  I'm linking up to:

Have a happy and yummy Thanksgiving!!

WIP Wednesday

It's Wednesday but not a whole lot of sewing has gone on this past week.  I did cut out all of the fabric for Emily's Shortcake quilt.

I also made a trip to the quilt store.  I picked up some fabric for my Christmas tree skirt (Moda's Blitzen line), a Half Moon Modern charm pack (for a baby quilt), and that purple fabric is to make a scripture tote for my daughter Haley.  They had everything I needed to get started except for any Kona white.  They were completely out, ugh!! So I'm waiting patiently for it to arrive from the Fat Quarter Shop.

Fall Wreath

I was asked to make and teach a craft at our church craft night last month.  I knew it had to be something that didn't cost a lot and something that didn't take too long so the ladies could make other crafts that night as well.  I really loved this wreath that I had pinned but knew it would take way too long so I just made a simpler version of it.  This is hanging above our piano.  A friend gave me this old frame for free.  I gushed about how I loved hers and she asked if I wanted one.  We walked out to her shop and I had my pick of windows.  They were pretty old, covered in bird poop with broken glass. I let Tyler knock out the broken glass (he loved that!) and I sanded it and sprayed on a coat of antique white.  Love how it turned out and it will be fun to add different seasonal decor to it too:)  I'm linking up with Simply Kierste!

30 Days, 30 Cards

This month on the MemoryWorks blog, there is some month-long fun going on.  It's 30 Days, 30 Cards.  Each day this month, a sketch will be featured along with an example from one of the TeamWorks members.  We are all using Christmas themed papers to give you some Christmas card inspiration.  It's never to early to get started on those Christmas cards, right:)  Today's my day on the blog and I chose this fun sketch from PageMaps:

Here's my take on the sketch using the Simple Stories Holiday Handmade 6x6 pad.  I love how the sketch has a stitched border so I "had" to use my sewing machine:)

If you want to play along, link up your card on the MemoryWorks blog.  There will be prizes awarded at the end of the month!!

WIP Wednesday: Halloween Bags x 3

Happy halloween!  I didn't sew any costumes this year but I did sew some halloween bags for the girls.  Tyler, the first born, has a cute pumpkin bag with his name on it that he uses every year.  Then I usually go and buy a plastic basket each year for the girls.  I figured it was time for the girls to have some cute bags of their own:)  I pinned these cute bags last year but didn't have enough time to make a trip to the fabric store.  I just followed her tutorial.  I love the way they turned out and love that they can use them every year too!

Supplies used: Canvas bags (Hobby Lobby), Sweetwater Sew Mama Sew (white with black writing), Riley Blake Dots (orange dots), Ann Kelle-Robert Kaufman Fabrics (chevron), Graphic 45 Wilmington Fabrics (orange), Kona black fabric, Making memories stamps for the big letters, Stamin' Up stamps for the "or", Black craft paint

Other projects:
Christmas tree skirt: No progress
Emily's quilt: We finally agreed on a line that we both like.  It had to be mostly pink-with no blue or too many other colors (Hard to negotiate with a 4-year old!)  It's Joel Dewberry's Modern Meadow line.  I am going to make the quilt with this Cluck Cluck Sew pattern.

I'm linking up to Freshly Pieced!

WIP Wednesday: Chevron quilt finished!

Well my youngest sister is getting married this Friday so I finished this quilt in the nick of time.  It's a gift for her and her new hubby.  Hope they like it:)  I used the tutorial found here.

Front of the quilt

Folded up with the back showing

I just quilted the white fabric in a loopy loop pattern so the yellow fabrics would really pop.

Some upcoming sewing projects:
Trick-or-treat bags for my girls
A Christmas tree skirt
A quiet book (I started a LONG time ago)
A sewing machine cover

WIP Wednesday

It's been a few weeks since I've posted on WIP Wednesday.  We went on vacation to Sun River, OR and then we had our fair the next week and last week I took the kids swimming at the last pond day before school starts.  School starts today for the kiddos so hopefully I'll be able to get a little more sewing time in:)  However, in the last month, I did manage to get this chevron quilt top finished:

This week, I'm hoping to quilt it and sew some bibs for a friend that just had her baby.

Memory Works Inspiration

Well it's my month to share some inspiration for the Memory Works website.  You can go here to see the site and then go to inspiration and you can see the full supply list and instructions.  I used the brand new Simple Stories Take a Hike collection which is great for any outdoor projects:)

A card that would be fun to use to invite someone over for a BBQ

I created the camping checklist to use and store next to our camping supplies so it's there to use whenever it's time to pack for camping.  I laminated it so I can check it off and then erase the checkmarks and use it again!

A hiking adventure from quite a few years ago (at least 5!)

I also started working on my chevron quilt.  I got all of the strips cut out, pressed, and then cut into squares.  Now on to putting the quilt top together:)

My 1st finished quilt!

I started my first quilt about 2 1/2 years ago and I finally finished it!  Woo-hoo!!  It started off as a friendship quilt.  There were 12 of us in the group.  We each had a different star pattern and a box with our own fabric.  Every 2 weeks, we rotated our box of fabric and made our pattern using someone else's fabric.  At the end, we each had 12 different star blocks.  I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with my blocks so they kinda sat in my box for a while.  Then Katie was born and they sat for quite a bit longer.  Last summer, I finally decided that I wanted to make it into a quilt to use for our bed, our king-size bed!  So I met with Rachel, who was the one that set up the friendship quilt swap, and she helped me plan out a king size quilt top.  I ended up making 13 more blocks-for a total of 25-and set it diagonally to make it even bigger.  Fortunately, I was able to find a few of the same fabrics for the borders through etsy and then used my scraps for the binding and for a strip on the back too.  I love how it turned out and have already started on my next one:)

My assistants are a little shorter than me!

BB Gun

I combined a couple of challenges for this one of Tyler and his first BB Gun that he got last Christmas.  I used sketch #83 from the Sketches in Thyme blog and went with the brown/coral/sage color theme from the ScrapFit blog and then scrapped a holiday photo using non-holiday papers from the Memory Works monthly challenge.  Whew, that was a mouthful!  I used the Simple Stories Awesome line for this LO, love this all boy line!!

WIP Wednesday

Well, this is a first for me: to link up to the  WIP (work-in-progress) Wednesday.  This week I've been working on the binding for my first quilt.  I'm almost done, soooo close I can taste it:)  My hubby and I have been watching the Forsyte Sage on Netflix while I'm been hand sewing away.

I was also able to make it to the quilt store this week to pick up the fabrics for my next quilt.  This one's going to be a chevron quilt that I pinned on pinterest and can not get out of my mind:)  But this one's going to be a wedding gift for a special someone.  The yellows and white are for the front and the gray for the backing.  Can't wait to dig in.....
